A brand-new year is approaching, new business trends will inevitably change the way online existence is handled, from marketing to website design, what will be the new ways to show off your business in 2018?  In an ever-shrinking world you need to put your business on the world stage and offer your services to your target audience, wherever that may be. Here are some integrating and bold ways to improve your business website in 2018.

Be Multi Lingual

Make your website accessible to the whole world by making it easy to read what ever language you speak. If you need a little help being multi lingual then you can get help from online tutors such as these Spanish tutors from Preply. Learn the right key phrases and wording to make your business stand out. Know your target audience and make sure your website caters to the languages your business needs. Multi lingual is the way forward in 2018.

Use Animated Logos

Technology has advanced so much that most web browsers can easily handle animations. They don’t have to be flashy and distracting like they have in the past. In 2018 you will see the subtle use of animation that is scroll-triggered animations and easy on the eye. They are easier to develop than you might think and these kinds of logos will stick in the minds of your customer and trigger memories better than static flat logos.

Be Culturally Diverse

In a global market place, you need to be spot on when it comes to cultures, languages and different religions. Your business website needs to show you are open to the whole world and respect all of your customers, wherever they are from. This may be as simple as adding culturally diverse stock photos or adding the options of translations when it comes to important information. Make your website amenable and accessible to everyone you want to visit. Know your audience and help to make your website a bold and diverse place.

Bright Colours

2018 is the year of the bright and the bold. Not too flashy but eye-catching and fun all the same. Changing your flat colours to multi-coloured gradients and evolutionary ones will perk up your business website and give it that edge. Mix up your logos, buttons, and other website elements giving them a new, modern and bright and colourful style. Leading the way into an exciting new year with rainbow colours in mind.

Keep it Simple

People are increasingly looking for a shorter process to interact with a website or online tool. Therefore, reducing the steps and keeping your website simple and easy to use will make it more accessible and usable for the customers. Click throughs lose interest and navigating a complicated website will make people leave too. Customers want to swipe or click and get to where they want to go. Making your website simple and user friendly will keep your visitors interested and more likely to use your business, using a simple marketing strategy is also a good idea.

What trends will you be following in 2018 for your business?

There might be a lot to think about when planning for your business insights in 2018, but if you follow these trends you will improve your visits and your visibility in the new year. Which do you think will be the best way to improve your own business website? Getting your site visible and readable to as many people as possible around the world will be the best thing for your business in the new year.

Top 5 Cryptocurrencies to Watch in 2018 - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

There has been much frenzy regarding cryptocurrencies in the last few months, and it shows no signs of slowing. A high number of people are looking to invest in these currencies, either for the long term or making some short-term gains.

Whatever way you look at it some positives can be made as long as you do your homework and realize any investment is a risk. The question though is which currency or currencies to become involved with?

With so many coins available trying to find a winner can be a bit of a task, yet if you follow the steps below it can help you to decide.

How to Pick a Winner

Research the team behind the coin – are they new to the game or are have they been involved with crypto is in the past? Any Crypto that has done well will have a proven team behind it and has a significant market capital.

Look at the why – some cryptos are being developed for specific uses, do they solve a problem or are they aiming to give a solution to something that doesn’t need addressing?

Assess their valuation – many coins are used to make gains. They are bought and sold fast, and many coins are priced too high.

With this in mind here are the top 5 Cryptocurrencies that are worth watching in 2018.

Bitcoin

Although the price has gone through the roof, Bitcoin is still number the number 1 choice to follow. The price did crash recently yet this makes it all the better time to buy. There is still plenty of life left in Bitcoin as it has not yet reached the full market capital it is capable of.

Although many of the other altcoins are going to encroach onto Bitcoins, lead it will be a while before any of them can pass the current leader. There are still plenty of coins to come into circulation, so there is always plenty of scope for the next few years.

The one advantage BTC has against its rivals is you purchase many altcoins using BTC, so the more altcoins that are obtained, the more demand for BTC.

NEO

This has the potential to explode onto the market. At present China has taken a stance against Bitcoin yet NEO was developed by Chinese and has been named “The Ethereum of China.” If China as a country embraces cryptocurrencies and relaxes its stance the market potential is vast.

It is at present way behind Ethereum, yet it has the potential to be up there in the coming year. The number of coins in circulation is around 65 million out of 100 million that will be released.

This has roughly the same amount of coins to be mined as the market leader so over 2018 and beyond the chance for it to grow quite substantial.

Cardano (ADA)

This is one of the newer crypto is on the market and was developed in Hong Kong and is touted to be a real competitor toward Ethereum. Although it was only introduced a few months ago, it has made a significant splash already and broke into the top 10 by market capital by November time.

Ada which is the currency behind Cardano is still in its infancy stage, and the developers are looking to introduce it into the mainstream in the later part of 2018. This could make it ideal for a longer term investment as its actual impact has not yet been made.

LiteCoin

If Bitcoin is classed as cryptocurrency gold, this is termed the cryptocurrency silver and was created by a former Google employee. His vision was to use this as a day to day currency everyone can use to purchase things quickly without waiting for transactions to be confirmed to the extent he or she is with bitcoin.

The initial mining process of bitcoin is where the delay is, and it was this that was tweaked to give a much quicker response and allow everyone to be able to take advantage of it.

As of yet, the real value of Litecoin has not been realized as it is all based on user adoption. When it is adopted more and the flaws it has fixed compared to Bitcoin, its value can be fully seen.

SkyCoin

This is the outsider of the bunch and was created to fix the flaws that are in Bitcoin. Billed as a third generation, it had yet to make an impact on the market and was developed at roughly the same time as Litecoin. The full vision is to be the real successor to Bitcoin and return the cryptocurrency to the original concept of its founder.

The real vision if Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies were to be decentralized and was the property of everyone. Bitcoin has become a failure of its success and has lost much of its decentralization due to pool mining. With Skycoin there is no mining, so this scenario will not be reached yet users can earn coins in return for powering the network. The next cryptocurrency to invest in could well be Skycoin.

The aim here is to compete with credit cards and other instant online payment systems, so the potential is huge. When it hits the mainstream, the possibility for human greed (pool mining) is eliminated, and the true vision of what a cryptocurrency is intended for can be realized.

Out of the bunch, this is one to give your focus as it has been developed differently to other coins yet it has met all the expectations of industry experts and users.

The above cryptocurrency list is a handful out of the hundreds that are available yet these show signs of being the most promising of giving high returns. As the year goes on all of these will make their way to the top of the charts with the market cap increasing.

Once they gain exposure that is the time they will grab the attention of all the investors who are looking for the next big coin to follow.

Much of the leader’s value has come from popularity rather than a value of what they offer. Keep your eyes on all of these but make sure you make your jump before it is too late.

  2. Talk to us about how the Sustainable Development Goals have influenced Simprints’ mission and vision.
  3. In your role, how do you go about identifying the specific companies and/or individuals that you’d like to partner with Simprints?

Simprints is nonprofit tech company from the University of Cambridge. We’re backed by USAID, GIF, and DRKF to build open-source fingerprint technology for global health and development. We work with partners like UNICEF in Nigeria to track the delivery of maternal healthcare services, or Ministries of Education to fight the challenge of “ghost teachers” fraudulently draining payroll. Our technology is 4x cheaper and 228% more accurate with the scarred, worn fingerprints typical of “last mile” beneficiaries. Our goal is to radically disrupt the inaccurate way we currently track and deliver progress towards the SDGs, instead building a world where every person—not guesswork—counts in fighting poverty globally.

Christine’s role is to lead our strategic partnerships with philanthropic and corporate foundations, as well as help manage client projects in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Deodorant vs Antiperspirant - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

So you need a new stick of D.O. for the B.O.? You’re in the deodorant aisle, staring at the myriad products. It’s overwhelming. And what’s that debate about antiperspirants? Aren’t they supposed to be bad for you, or something? But what if you just get really sweaty? Let’s take a look at the difference between the two types of deodorant, which both have pros and cons.

Basic deodorants

Basic deodorant will do its job and keep you from getting smelly when you get sweaty–but you’ll still get sweaty. The defining difference between deodorant and antiperspirant, of course, is that antiperspirant is specially formulated to control sweat and odor, whereas basic deodorant only helps abate odor. It’s important to know that sweat itself doesn’t smell; it’s the bacteria on the skin under our armpits that get stinky. There are a lot of sweat glands there making pits a great place for bacteria growth. Deodorants carry acidic or salty ingredients that make our underarms a little less hospitable to bacteria, and less bacteria means less smell. Additionally, deodorants are usually scented, just to give a little extra masking in case odor does build up.

Antiperspirants

Antiperspirants usually have an aluminum compound in them that plugs up sweat glands for a little while (not permanently). Because of this, they are actually classified as a drug. There are products out there that are simply antiperspirant, but there are also antiperspirant/deodorant combinations–which is probably what many of us use. For extra-sweaty people, there are “clinical strength” antiperspirants, and even prescription-only antiperspirants. These may be necessary for people with hyperhidrosis, a condition that makes someone extremely sweaty, or for people about to go into a job interview or who have to work a job where they are active and still have to look professional, such as those who work maintenance and cleaning at major Kalamazoo, Michigan corporations. There’s a little bit of controversy surround antiperspirants, though. Some claim that antiperspirant is linked to breast cancer, although the FDA, American Cancer Society, and the National Cancer institute have said there’s no evidence to support the claim. The aluminum in antiperspirants isn’t super for the environment though, so many people prefer to use more natural methods of sweat control. “Natural” deodorizers include baking soda and mineral salt crystal deodorants. Many of these options are offered by eco- and health-minded companies.

Other considerations

Of course, in certain situations, such as when you’re out using that Miken slowpitch softball bats on a humid day, you may have to accept that you will just be sweaty, no matter what. You can cover up the smell, but you may want to let your body operate the way it’s meant to. The sweat is there to help cool you off, after all!

Both deodorant and antiperspirant can cause skin irritation. If this happens to you, you might try a different brand, and if it still doesn’t improve, see your dermatologist. If you can’t use deodorant, don’t worry; since the smell is caused by bacteria, basic hygiene is the best defense. Washing up or taking a baby wipe to you underarms a few times a day will go a long way to keeping you smelling pretty.

And remember, ladies, the “pink tax” is a real thing. Did you know products such as razors and deodorants labeled “for women” are actually more expensive than those targeted towards men? Deodorant works regardless of your gender; there’s really no difference except for the scents. So if you want to save a little, go straight to the “men’s” options.

If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to invest in Kuwait and open a business, now might be the time to jump. As we head into the new year, there are a number of business opportunities that are attracting not just Kuwaiti investors but also investors from around the world. It seems that there is a real progressive movement taking place which is opening Kuwait up in all-new ways.

All you have to do is take a look at Kuwait national Fahad Alrajaan, who works with the Kuwait Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS), which is the country’s pension agency. By doing this you’ll see just how progressive things have become. Not only is there a lot of care and research being put into its global investments, but providing a more progressive work ethic is making people take notice in all the right ways.

If you’re wondering what the best business opportunities are at this moment in Kuwait, read on to find out more.

HR/Job Consultancy Firm

There’s no better way to take advantage of the booming business industry in Kuwait than by opening your own HR/job consultancy firm. When you think about all the companies that are starting up or expanding, then you start to understand just how much staff will be needed. According to recent statistics, the number of migrant workers in Kuwait is actually greater than the country’s own workforce. Now is the time to get your foot in the door and start up a job recruitment and training firm.

Cash in on Technology and Gadgets

Just like in many other growing economies around the world, Kuwait is embracing technology and all it has to offer. With that said, the Kuwaiti people and their businesses have a real thirst for the latest and greatest in terms of technology. You may want to think about setting up a one-stop-shop for technology items such as smart phones, tablets, memory cards, software, and more. Tech gadgets are in high demand and showing no signs of slowing down.

Dental or Eye Clinic

This particular business is more of a traditional model, but can prove to be just as lucrative. If you do plan on opening one of these clinics, look for ways you can broaden the services and products you offer. For example, if you’re going to open an eye clinic you should be offering eye tests, glasses frames and lenses, fittings, eye drops, contact lenses, glasses repairs, etc. Again, it’s about becoming that one-stop-shop of convenience.

Your Own English as a Second Language School

With Kuwait competing on a global scale and welcoming investors from all over the world, there is a sudden interest on the behalf of Kuwaitis to learn English. This opens up another business venture. An English as a second language school can prove to be a very sound and wise investment.

On the flip side you may want to consider a specialty school instead, such as one that focuses on the arts or sports.

A Time for Opportunity

There really has never been a better time to start looking at opening a business in Kuwait, as there are all kinds of intriguing and potentially very profitable options currently available.

3 Major Benefits of an MBA Degree for Your Business Career - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

Whether you currently own or manage a business, work in a leadership role, or hope to become an entrepreneur soon, you probably realize that success in these areas comes down to more than just hard work and/or luck.

While entrepreneurship is, in many ways, easier than it once was thanks to technological developments, the downside is that more and more people around the world wish to lead teams and become successful business people now.

With so much competition, plus potentially not just your career but also your time, money and health on the line, it’s vital to do everything you can to achieve your goals sooner quickly. That’s where studying an MBA degree can really help you on your way. Read on for three of the major benefits completing this kind of course can have, no matter the industry you’re in.

Learn Practical Skills You Can Implement

One of the first key advantages of enrolling in an AACSB-accredited online MBA or other relevant program is that these courses will teach you a raft of beneficial business skills you can use in a practical way during your career.

For example, throughout your studies you can hone skills such as communication, leadership, time-management, critical thinking, using your imagination, problem solving, analysis, project management, reporting, finance, negotiation, and organization.

As part of an MBA degree you will need to listen well; work with others to complete group assignments; speak in front of a group; write essays, reports, strategic plans, and business plans; learn about accounting practices and financial markets; take in, analyze, and synthesize large amounts of information; complete work to deadline; get your point across in a succinct way; and more. All of the requirements of the course will help you to get ready to lead a business, and/or to be a better manager and entrepreneur right now if you’re already in the role.

Networking

Being able to network with like-minded, interested and talented people is another key reason to enroll in an MBA degree. For many graduates, one of the best things they take away from their studies is the chance to make contacts and friendships with people from all over the country (and even the world) who they would otherwise not have had a chance to meet.

During an MBA you can get to know people from all sorts of cultures and walks of life, which can open your eyes to new ways of doing things, business and leadership wise, plus expose you to information about international markets.

In addition, keep in mind that it’s likely some of the close relationships you develop during your studies will help you during the hard times when you’re leading a team. No matter how successful your organization is, you are bound to have plenty of lows, and need people who can support you through them. Having educated, level-headed, and kind people you trust, who you can turn to on the challenging days when you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to you, can be invaluable.

The contacts you make can also end up being helpful in other ways. For example, your fellow students can help you come up with solutions to problems or new ideas, and they might end up becoming your advisors, business partners, investors, suppliers, contractors, or employees.

Become More Interesting to Investors, Potential Employees, and Journalists

Lastly, once you have an MBA degree you can also become much more interesting and attractive to potential investors, lenders, and business partners. People thinking of parting with their money need to know that you have an idea of what you’re doing, have helpful skills, know how to manage your time, and can commit to long-term projects. Having a degree in business can be a big plus when evaluating you as someone to invest in.

Similarly, when you need to attract top talent to your team, especially when you’re a start-up that isn’t known or with many “runs on the board” yet, having an MBA degree can help you to be seen more favorably by candidates. Rather than someone who has simply decided to open a business on a whim, you have spent years studying the area and can show that you will be much more likely to turn your business into a success and a more stable employer as a result.

When you’re running a new venture, it’s also important to market your brand and wares effectively. A helpful way of doing this is to be interviewed, and see your products and services mentioned regularly in the press. Completing MBA studies can help you to attract more interest from journalists, and be taken more seriously.

Five Marketing Mistakes You Need to Stop Doing - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$
0
0

Marketing tactics will continuously evolve as new technologies become available. Not only do tech and new programs affect how you can market, trends do as well. That’s why minimalism is currently all the rage. It’s why the iconic “millennial pink” is everywhere. People opt for what is familiar, but simply copying what everyone else is doing is not how you create brand loyalty and how you gain repeat customers. You need to be unique, but you need to be consistent. You need to stop making these five marketing mistakes:

  1. Using Shock Tactics

In a way, this tactic is the result of the algorithms that many of the social mediums have adopted. Shock tactics are further adopted most often by individual influencers than by brands, but regardless should always be avoided. Shock tactics can, of course, get your name out there, but they can also cause public opinion to turn against you. The media love to destroy brands, because it’s good for their business. Shock tactics might get your name out there, but it can also finish you.

  1. Working the Hard Sale

Putting all your money and advertising budget into the hard sale is a huge mistake. Customers hate to buy online or purchase a service from someone they do not know or trust. That is why you should instead try for the soft sale. It’s a lot easier to get an email address from a sign up than it is to get a sale. Once you have that email you can use marketing automation to further develop your relationship with that consumer. What is marketing automation? It’s the ability to personalize email chains to boost customer loyalty and reward repeated purchases.

  1. Ignoring SEO

The best way to get new business is to be at the top of Google’s search results. People trust Google, and they trust its results. That is why a third of users will select the first result. SEO is more permanent than pay-per-click, and it can keep organic page visits coming again and again.

  1. Ignoring the Potential of Video

Video is huge. Augmented reality is combining with the power of video to offer even more marketing opportunities. Generally, however, creating video content is the way forward. You need to ensure that it is professional (both live and published). You also need to be aware that many people on their mobiles and even their desktops will watch videos that they come across on social media on mute. Add text subtitles to ensure that your content gets watched, instead of passed over.

The biggest mistake any brand can make is to not be committed to its marketing strategy. From how it is perceived, to the goodwill it does, to its advertising, and even to its social media strategy. You need to follow trends, yes, but you need to do them in a unique way. Quality is the way forward, and it is how you will grow a community of loyal and repeat customers.

The Future of Legal Marijuana - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

These are interesting times politically. The current presidential administration is, to put it mildly, a unique beast. Trump gets the most attention, but he’s joined by a colorful cast of supporting characters. One of the most colorful is Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who formerly served as a senator from Alabama. Sessions often seems like he was born in the wrong era, like he would be much more comfortable existing in 1918 rather than 2018. One big reason for that? He’s a big proponent of the drug war, despite compelling evidence that it’s unfairly targeted minority populations and really hasn’t done a whole lot to drive down drug usage. But Sessions won’t be deterred, and to that end, he recently announced he was repealing the Cole memo, which offered certain protections to states that had legalized marijuana. This angered Democrats and Republicans alike, especially in states like Colorado and Washington where legal weed sales pump a lot of money into the economy.

Federal law and marijuana

Here’s one reason why Sessions had the right to repeal the Cole memo: marijuana is still illegal as far as the federal government is concerned. That was true even under President Obama. If we really want the future of legal marijuana to be secure, it needs to be legalized by Congress. The Sessions announcement may have made that more likely, as several members of Congress have called legalizing marijuana a priority now. It’s still far from certain, though, and until it happens, pot-friendly states will continue to exist in a legal gray area. Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I controlled substance, the same classification bestowed on drugs like heroin and LSD.

Marijuana shops are also angry because they had to jump through a lot of hoops in order to open their business. This isn’t some fly-by-night operation; places selling medical marijuana must obtain a medical marijuana dispensary license from their state, and there’s a similar structure in place for states that allow recreational marijuana shops. States made selling legal pot difficult in part because they wanted to keep the feds off their back, and now all that work might have been for naught.

Prosecutorial discretion

The Cole memo basically said that federal prosecutors shouldn’t go after the marijuana business in states that decided to make it legal. So now Sessions is telling prosecutors they’re free to go after pot shops if they want. That doesn’t mean they have to, though. There’s something called prosecutorial discretion that allows them to decide which crimes should be prioritized and which should be mostly ignored. So that means some prosecutors might start really cracking down on pot shops, while others might not. It’s hard to say at this point, and so the reaction from medical and recreational pot sellers has ranged from outright panic to cautious optimism. About two thirds of Americans think pot should be legal in some form, so there’s not a huge public outcry that demands action here.

If you live in a state where it’s legal, you may be wondering if you should keep buying it from shops. Pot shops in places like Portland, Oregon, probably seem like safer bets than, say, a pot shop in small-town Colorado. In other words, blue cities will be perceived as less likely to crack down on legal weed. There’s nothing wrong with taking a wait-and-see approach, although pot shop proprietors are generally considered more vulnerable to arrest than pot shop customers. Next time you visit a marijuana shop, talk to the employees about the Sessions decision. They’re on the front lines of this conflict, and they’ll probably have plenty to say.

Budget-friendly Tools for Boosting Your Startup’s Growth - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

As a budding entrepreneur with either a brand-new company or one that is about to launch, you probably understand the importance of being smart with your money. For instance, you are running your startup from your spare bedroom instead of an office in a trendy part of downtown, you have a bare bones staff and your furniture came from Craigslist, not a boutique.

Fortunately, it is also quite possible to keep this thrifty mindset when it comes to equipping your startup with the technology that it needs to not only succeed but to thrive. For example, these four types of tech will help boost the growth of your new company with a minimum investment.

Mobile-Friendly Apps and Websites

With more consumers than ever using smartphones to access the internet, small business owners must have a mobile-friendly version of their website and app available to potential customers. In addition to encouraging shoppers to purchase products and services from your startup, Microsoft has also updated Bing to reward the more mobile-friendly sites with an increase in their ranking, meaning consumers will have an easier time finding you online.

Having a mobile app is another budget-friendly and essential tool for business growth. As a bonus, rather than hiring someone to create an app for your startup, you can use Microsoft PowerApps, which includes a free trial.

Tools that Feature Machine Learning

As you purchase technology for your startup, you may want to focus on tools that feature machine learning. In addition to improving internal workflow, machine learning innovations can also enhance the customer experience by recognizing their patterns and anticipating what they need in advance. For example, the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platforms are now enhanced with built-in machine learning that is designed to adapt to what you and your team do on their mobile devices; this includes real-time, on-device processing of info and high-quality connections, which will all make your mobile device live up to its “smartphone” name and allow you to be more productive.

3-D Printing

You may have seen demonstrations of 3-D printing in local tech stores. Depending on what type of startup you have, you can use this growing form of tech to help your company succeed. Three-dimensional printing may revolutionize the way items are manufactured, saving time and money in the process. Rather than having your items made somewhere else, you can use your own 3-D printer to create the products as you need them. As a bonus, keeping large amounts of inventory in stock, and paying for a warehouse to store everything — or putting your stock in your garage — will no longer be necessary. As this innovative technology gets more advanced and user-friendly, the lists of what you can use the 3-D printer for will grow even more.

Marketing Automation Tools

Rather than spend part of your already-stretched business budget on hiring a marketing professional, you can use a customer relationship management (CRM) platform on your own to do marketing activities. There are many reputable CRM platforms available, with Salesforce being one of the most popular, that will all allow you to get an accurate view of your customers, improve their experiences and anticipate what your clients will need next.

By focusing your business budget on useful and affordable types of technology, instead of fancy bells and whistles that your startup doesn’t really need right now, your new company will be poised for success. Give your customers mobile-friendly ways to do business with you, track them with a CRM platform and focus on machine learning and tools like a 3-D printer and you’ll be well on your way to a successful startup in no time.

Can Big Brother Be Legally Watching You? - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

As technology encroaches on every aspect of Americans’ daily lives, it appears that people are becoming more and more comfortable surrendering some of their freedoms and their privacy. The internet is just one area where Americans are uploading their personal information with fervor, not giving much thought about who sees it, or better yet, who is collecting data.

But not many realize that it isn’t just about surfing the internet; intelligence collection across all mediums including text messages, emails, and phone conversations might all be subject to someone’s eyes other than their own and the person they are corresponding with.

The new rash of surveillance discovery in cases like Edward Snowden’s “whistle-blowing” incident, Trump’s tapes of his conversations with Billy Bush, and now the existence of the  Michael Flynn tapes surfacing has not just governmental agencies, but also the average citizen, wondering when Big Brother is watching. There is a growing debate in Congress about how well the government is protecting the privacy of American citizens, or if they are overreaching their boundaries by listening in on things that they don’t have a legal right to.

The Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency were created to protect the American homeland. Over time, they have been allowed to single out people who they suspect of trying to do harm to the civilian public.

But as time has progressed, that data might be being collected in illegal ways and for purposes other than the original intention. When Edward Snowden called out Obama’s Administration for spying on people and then fled the country, there was much debate about whether he was a hero or a traitor, but not much was discussed about whether he was right or wrong or even telling the truth.

If the personal monitoring surveillance that the government is collecting on the American public is as far-reaching as whistleblowers like Snowden has suggested, then it isn’t for purposes of protection; it is being used for things that are intrusive and probably downright illegal. Adding fuel to the surveillance fire is the new controversy revolving around Michael Flynn and the allegations that he didn’t report money taken from Russian companies and that he was fraternizing with the Russian Ambassador to aid in Trump’s 2016 election win.

The biggest controversy surrounds Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which gives the Attorney General and the NSA director the ability to listen in on personal conversations of non-US citizens without the need for a warrant.

The problem is that when they are doing so, the agency puts out a very wide net to catch a small fish and what eventually gets caught is communication that’s not always from non- citizens. The electronic data that is being collected includes US citizens’ phone calls and NSA snooping that the NSA terms “incidental collection.” It’s a euphemism for doing something illegal; there are no laws on the books that allow the government to reach as far as they do, or to spy on the American public the way that they do.

But no one seems all that concerned. Flynn’s actions were recorded because he was talking to a foreign citizen, which means that they were collected under the “incidental collection” of Russian espionage. Many experts are now asking whether it was a legal collection of surveillance and admissible in court or not.

The NSA is allowed to keep the data that they incidentally collect, but they are supposed to strip the identification of any US person that is involved. However, many intelligence officials are allowed to find out the identification if they see probable cause to do so.

Unmasking Flynn and the legalities of the situation are only further complicated by the leak of his actions to the media that came from within. It isn’t a question of whether his actions were illegal, as much as the question of legality of spying on people without using legal means and then leaking the facts to the media.

Although he’s a big player on a national stage, the Flynn incident is just an example of how Americans are vulnerable to being spied on by the government without awareness or recourse. The argument that you have to give up some of your privacy for the greater good is one that might need to be revisited, especially in the new age of technology.

Five Quirky Ways to Make a Lasting Impact on the People You Meet - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

As an entrepreneur, it’s important that people remember you. As the face of your brand, you can have a huge impact on how successful your brand is. However, being memorable isn’t just for entrepreneurs.

Being memorable has plenty of benefits, no matter who you are!

It can make networking for a new job easier, and it can result in making faster friends with the people around you.

Most people think you’re either memorable or you’re not. Fortunately, memorability is something you can learn, and it’s easier than you think.

Here are five quirky ways you can make a lasting impact on everyone you meet.

Use a Vaporizer

Smoking isn’t the sexy, cool habit it once was. As a matter of fact, its nasty odors have the opposite effect. But all is not lost if you enjoy tobacco. Use your habit to your advantage and use a vape pen instead.

Vape pens offer a healthier way to smoke, and they’re a lot cooler too. Many vape pens feature custom designs that are sure to get the attention of everyone you meet. In addition, vape pens let off a harmless, scentless vapor that won’t make those you are talking to turn up their nose.

Smoking with a vape pen is cool, and everyone around you will appreciate the fact that you aren’t saturating the area with unpleasant smoke, making you memorable for all the right reasons.

Choose a Signature Style Item

For some reason, when it comes to business, people seem to want to melt into the crowd. That means black suits, dull colored shirts, and pumps. In an everyday business setting, these sorts of fashion choices might work, but they aren’t effective if you want to make a lasting impression.

But that doesn’t mean you have to show up in a rainbow muumuu!

Instead, choose a signature style item and rock it with confidence. A few ideas include:

  • Brightly colored shoes
  • Shirts with unique patterns
  • A bold lip color
  • An expensive, eye-catching watch
  • Quirky socks

Don’t Ask Run-Of-The-Mill Questions

“What do you do for a living?”

That’s a pretty standard question that gets asked when you’re meeting people for the first time. Unfortunately, the responses are usually boring because let’s face it. Most people aren’t really that passionate about what they do for a living.

Instead, strive to ask out-of-the-box questions like:

  • What do you do in your spare time?
  • What would you do if money were no object?
  • Where is your favorite vacation spot?
  • What’s your favorite thing to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon?

Ask questions that people actually want to answer and they’ll never forget meeting you for the first time.

Be Authentically You

Most people act like a watered-down version of themselves in an attempt to get people to like them. It works. By being overly easy-going, never getting offended, not making jokes, and melting into the background no one will dislike you, but you’ll be completely forgotten.

It’s extremely important to be yourself. Act as if you were hanging out with a group of old friends even though you may have just met the people you’re spending time with. Not only will you be more comfortable and happy because you’re being authentic, but you’re also more likely to be remembered.

But isn’t there the possibility that some people may not like you?

That’s very true, but it’s much better to meet a few new clients or make a few authentic business connections while making a few others uncomfortable than it is not to make any connections at all because no one was interested enough to give you a call.

Design an Unforgettable Business Card

The tips on this list are all great ideas. They will undoubtedly increase your chances of being remembered, but they aren’t foolproof. No matter how unique and quirky you are, some people simply may not notice.

Give them one more chance to remember you by designing an unforgettable business card.

Skip the plain white card with your personal contact information and do something different. For example, a divorce lawyer could design a card with a perforated center that can be torn in half while a designer could create a card that can be cut apart and turned into a tiny piece of furniture.

Don’t be just another face in the crowd! You may be taking a chance by following the tips on this list, but taking that chance is well worth it. You’ll make more and better connections with the people you meet by being memorable.

Everything You Need to Know About Your First Car - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

You’ve been driving for a while now. You have your license (one would hope.) You still remember how you annoyed your parents into getting you driving lessons, and now that you feel relatively confident you won’t smash anything, you’re looking to get your own car.

Whether it’s to drive yourself to college or to independence, getting your first car is a big deal to you. It should be. It’s a rite of passage, a chance for you to be fully free of anyone else’s schedule. No more will you be a half hour late for that party because your mom was out getting groceries. No, your own wheels spell freedom. You’re itching to get behind the wheel, whether it’s junky and rusty or sleek and new. It will be your own car, your own private transport to anywhere.

You’ve been skimming through articles, trying to find out just what to do. Maybe your parents aren’t able to help you. Maybe you most-definitely don’t want them helping you; you want to figure this out on your own. (You don’t need training wheels getting your own car.) Either way, you’re here. You’re investigating all on your own. Here are some tips for getting your own car.

To start with, you’ll want to look either online or at a dealer. Craigslist comes in handy, since the cheapest cars are often peddled by individual buyers. It can be a simple way to scan some pictures, see a description, and then decide whether you want to waste your time driving over to a parking lot and testing the car. The tricky thing about Craigslist, when it’s your first car, is that you might get bamboozled. You don’t have fifteen years of car experience under your belt. (If you do, it’s about time you got your own car!) A lot of individual sellers conceal potential issues with the car, and everything’s fine and dandy with your super cheap ride–until it breaks down a hundred miles later, and the repair is almost half what you paid for the car.

If you still want to brave the wilds of Craigslist, you can–you should just get the car checked by a trusted mechanic before you drive it home. They’ll be able to tell you, for the most part, if there’s anything iffy with your engine. Then, sure of the car, you can make your purchase.

The safer way is to go with a car dealership. Whether you want to make payments on a new car, or browse their neat lines of pre-owned cars, you’ll be able to see and test drive a whole bunch of cars in one trip. Whether you live in Houston, TX, or Rockaway, NJ, there will be a dealership near you.

Once you get your car, you’re off! Adventure awaits. And if your car is on the ugly side, don’t worry– whether Grays Lake, IL or South Beach, OR– you can pay a little extra to get it painted at an auto body shop. Cheers!

Get Support While Getting Sober - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

What happens after we hit rock bottom? The choice to try and be better is relatively easy, but putting in the actual work is always hard. When you realize you have an addiction to drugs or alcohol, you have to take action. You also have to want to take action. It can’t be something you do because everyone tells you to do it. If the sincerity isn’t there, it won’t turn out well, and you’ll be more likely to relapse. The will and desire to change is the first thing you need, but it’s not the only thing.

Change your social network

Most addicts trying to recover will need to make at least some changes in their social network, and we don’t mean Facebook. The people you hang out with have a big part in the kinds of activities you do. For example, people who hang out with Dungeons and Dragons fans will probably find themselves playing Dungeons and Dragons occasionally. People who hang out with binge drinkers may also find themselves binge drinking, or at least tempted to do so. You don’t have to cut out every friend who drinks, but limit your time around people who have bad habits, as those tend to rub off. Most people start drinking, smoking, or doing drugs because a friend or loved one introduced them to the substance. It’s important to break the cycle.

Sober support groups can also be incredibly helpful for people at any stage of their journey to recovery. There are a few people who can quit cold turkey with no outside help or intervention, but they’re the exception that proves the rule. Saying the words, “I’m an alcoholic,” in a room full of people can feel overwhelming, but thinking about it is usually scarier than actually doing it. If you aren’t sure where to start, look up Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in your area. Groups like AA can provide you with a sober sponsor who has been through the same process you’re going through now. They’ll guide you through the tough times and provide some much-needed encouragement to stay on the right path. There’s a tendency in some people, especially men who were raised a certain way, to think that they don’t need help, and that asking for it makes them weak somehow. That’s a toxic line of thinking that only leads to more suffering.

Take care of legal matters

Every case is different, but plenty of addicts have to get arrested for DUI or another offense before they can see the light. Getting support means obtaining legal representation regardless of if you were arrested for DUI in Ann Arbor or Annapolis. Some people charged with drunk driving feel so much guilt that they think the best thing to do is plead guilty without a lawyer. That’s not a great idea. You can take responsibility for your actions without throwing yourself on the mercy of the court. A good lawyer will look at the facts of the case and tell you what you should do. That may mean pleading guilty, or it may mean something else. If you don’t handle it properly, a drunk driving conviction can ruin your life just as you’re trying to get it back on track.

Does Your Leadership Style Impact the Kind of Business Owner You Are? - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

What sort of entrepreneur would you say you are?

In the course of the most recent 16 years I have worked with an assortment of entrepreneurs and perceive the effect that the style of authority has on a business. Anyway, if I somehow happened to ask you how you deal with your business which of the few that I have delineated beneath would apply to you?

Drift

You enlist individuals to carry out an occupation, and need to reveal to them how to do it. In spite of the fact that the individual may have numerous times of understanding and are very ready to sort out themself you feel just as you need to reveal to them how to carry out their activity, and even go behind them and change what they have officially done.

On the off chance that you fall into this classification, you might need to consider whether this the best utilization of your chance? Any worries that you have about your colleagues’ capacities to carry out their activity might be because of needing sureness, or are demonstrating to you that you have to change your enrollment procedure. Business day Whichever way your business  is inclined to endure on the grounds that it is probably not going to work productively.

Disordered

You have heaps of unopened business correspondence around your workspace, and when colleagues request records you don’t know where to begin searching for them, however you “know” that they should be in a heap some place. payday loans Much more dreadful, you don’t recognize having gotten the data and overlook the demand so you can do different things.

In the event that this sounds natural the initial phase in making upgrades is to recognize this is the way you used to work, and afterward settle on a firm choice to get sorted out. In the event that it is excessively difficult, making it impossible to deal with the majority of the heaps yourself get somebody in to do the sorting out for you. Keep in mind, you need to give them a chance to get on with their activity and make a straightforward yet compelling framework for you to use to remain over correspondence and activity focuses. At that point, stick to it!

Head in sand

Issues are not being tended to in a convenient way, and your group continue requesting that you decide, however for what reason wouldn’t they be able to see that you have different activities and simply get on with it?

Does this sound recognizable? The fact of the matter is that occasionally as the entrepreneur your group do require you to make the “enormous” choices, and if key business choices should be made, or outer specialists tended to your group might not have the majority of the responses to cure the circumstance.

I recollect one entrepreneur who had called me in to audit their accumulation procedure, I composed a procedure and supporting record for them to execute and required their criticism on whether they were upbeat to continue. It was the point at which I squeezed the issue and could feature the cost of not settling on an opportune choice the they in the long run understood the effect that the postponement had on the organization’s income.

Impervious to take exhortation

You have procured experienced people to be on your group, yet the counsel that they are giving you implies that you need to change the way that you have constantly gotten things done, and you don’t know how this will affect your business. In this way, paying little heed to how frequently they rehash a similar exhortation you proceed obviously.

The way that you have procured “specialists” in their field into your business proposes that you know that a few things need to change. In this way, in spite of the fact that it might be excruciating, and even upsetting to grasp change if the long haul affect is advantageous to both you and the business you can either feel the agony now, and grasp the counsel given, or feel it later, when the result might be significantly more agonizing.

Welcome the capacity of others

While enrolling you recognize what you are searching for in a colleague and let them get on and carry out their activity. In your mind they are the master in their general vicinity, so you can depend on them to convey and you will concentrate on doing what you specialize in. In the event that issues emerge you realize that they will get managed, or you will be educated when you have to get included.

Despite the fact that you value your group regardless you have your eye on the ball, and recognize what is happening in the business, and where any potential issues may emerge. You believe your group to have the prosperity of the business as a need, and thusly recognize them for what they do. This is a solid way to deal with building a steadfast group who feel mindful and esteemed. In organizations where this level of self-rule is worked on, expecting that the “right” individuals have been enrolled in any case, staff turnover has a tendency to be lower and colleagues feel like family. Individuals remain with the association for more than the regularly scheduled paycheck.
