In the past couple years, podcasts certainly have become popular amongst the general public as if they are a new type of entertainment on the market but this isn’t the case; in fact, Apple introduced them to the world when they brought out the first iPhone 15 years ago when they offered 3,00 free podcasts but it never really took off until recently; we look into why the trend has only just started developing.

Podcasts have become business as well with many large media companies jumping on the trend and entering the market. Spotify were than interest in Startup, Homcoming and Reply All as well as Anchor podcasts which both provide technological help to people who are looking to set up a podcast that Spotify bought both companies for $340 million – an astonishing number! Apple wanted to get involved also as in July 2019 they began to fund their own exclusive podcast in which is now widely considered one of the most listened to podcast globally.
