How to Keep Your Team Productive - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

The success of a business relies heavily on its workforce. In stiff market conditions, workforce quality is the most important asset to have and develop. An enterprise is run by highly productive employees is bound to be a thriving and growing business.

It’s up to the entrepreneur to discover cost-effective ways of improving the workforce’s efficiency. Below are examples of strategies that can lead to higher productivity in the workplace.

Hire the best managers and team leaders

An ineffective manager can spell disaster for any team of workers, regardless of their individual skills and know-how. Conversely, an exceptional manager can motivate any troupe of employees to do productive work.

Much is expected of managers and team leaders, as they get to dictate the daily activities of the workers. It’s best not to skimp out when hiring for these roles.

Improve the workforce’s health and wellness

The employees’ physical and mental condition factor greatly into their productivity at work. Healthy workers are generally more productive than their sickly counterparts.

Company-sponsored medical check-ups can guarantee that the workers are always in shape for their jobs. Random drug screenings, through substance and THC test kits, can be a preventive measure to ensure a drug-free working environment.

Implement a developmental program for the workers

As the market changes, so should the business and its workers. The business must be ready to adapt to any industry changes in order to survive.

Sending the workforce to training and learning seminars should be a regular occurrence in the business. Regularly updating their skill sets and knowledge bases should also be a priority.

Provide a good workspace with adequate tools

Furnishing the workers with a safe, well-equipped workplace is the duty of the business owner. It’s not only a legal and ethical responsibility, it also significantly improves the potential of the workforce.

Generally, workers with the best tools and technologies at their disposal can get things done quicker and better. It will come at a cost, but the long-term gains can easily outweigh the initial investment.

Rein in distractions in the workspace

Technology can be a dual-edged sword in the workplace. On one hand, the addition of new technology can improve and speed up business processes. On the other, new technology can be disruptive and can become a distraction.

Take for example Internet access. There’s a limitless amount of information on the Internet that the business can benefit from. Unfortunately, the Internet is also home to a limitless number of distractions and time sinks.

Moving forward

Without workers, the business grinds to a halt. With unproductive workers, the business won’t be as profitable. With highly efficient workers, the business stays fruitful and thriving.

The workers are practically the lifeblood of any enterprise. Given this paradigm, it’s crucial that the business owner does everything in their power to improve worker productivity. There are many approaches to this, and it’s up to the employer to discern the most appropriate solutions for the business.

The Power of Engagement for A Luxury Start-Up - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Robert Gould, Founder of QIVIUT & CO, the brand responsible for setting a new standard in luxury outerwear joins Enterprise Radio to discuss the power of engagement for a luxury start-up.

Quickly gaining both notoriety and acclaim, QIVIUT & CO is responsible for introducing fibre from the Arctic Musk Ox in to the luxury fashion arena.

Listen to interview with host Eric Dye & guest Robert Gould discuss the following:

  • Why is engagement so important for a luxury start-up?
  • What are the engagement tactics that a start-up can employ?
  • What does it take to provide those tactics?
  • What is the pay off of engagement for a start-up?
  • Where does engagement fit in the overall marketing plan of a luxury start-up?

ROBERT GOULD is the London-based American Founder of QIVIUT & CO: the brand responsible for setting a new standard in luxury outerwear and bringing “QIVIUT” to the attention of the world.

Born in the US, GOULD studied for a BA at HARVARD COLLEGE before graduating from COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL with a Juris Doctor Degree. After serving as a military judge in the US NAVY, Gould entered the world of corporate law. First as an associate for Guggenheimer & Untermeyer in New York City, before becoming Vice-President and General Counsel of the closely held family business: GOULD PAPER CORPORATION.

In 1976, ROBERT GOULD moved to ALASKA for his first start up adventure. Many successful businesses followed and it was in those 38 years of living in the US state that his passion for QIVIUT ignited. GOULD made London his permanent home in 1994, however it wasn’t until 2014 that he decided to bring the ultra-soft fibre into the broader global fashion industry. Spotting a niche for something ‘new, unique and exclusive in the natural fibre category’, GOULD set out on a journey. QIVIUT & CO was established not only to create a new standard in outerwear, but also to bring both the outer and under hair of the musk ox, known as “QIVIUT” (KIV-ee-uht) to the attention of both the fashion industry and consumers alike.

“QIVIUT & CO is embarking not solely on the creation of a luxury brand, but a journey. A journey with hopes of establishing a legacy that will endure, like the musk ox itself.” – Robert Gould, Founder

ROBERT GOULD works full time in London as the Founder of QIVIUT & CO, with the brand having officially launched in early 2016.

3 Reasons You May Want to Consider Consulting a Professional Service to Assess Your Productivity - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

In most all businesses, time is the most precious resource. If money is lost, that’s bad, but the loss can be made up by increasing revenue or decreasing costs in other areas. But once time is gone, it is gone forever. In other words, managing productivity should be the number one goal of most business owners.

Therefore, reliable and experienced implementation consultants are often a business owner’s best friend. Such professionals can do things like manage workloads and reduce cycle times which significantly affect the daily schedules of your employees. In turn, these items also have a tremendous impact on your bottom line.

What are some reasons you should invest time and money in a productivity survey?

Control Time

The resource scarcity discussed above is flipped in many organizations. Business owners who would never dream of throwing away money sometimes consider their employees’ time to be disposable. Consider that on average, a worker receives over 200 business emails a day and attends over 62 meetings a month. Obviously, these average figures vary significantly according to the organization’s size. But no matter how many workers are in the office, they spend a lot of their time attending meetings and reviewing emails which may or may not contribute to their effectiveness.

In this case, the problem may not be an over-reliance on emails and meetings, but an under-reliance on other forms of communication. A brief face-to-face meeting might be an easier way to get things done than a long email string, and slightly longer meetings with longer agendas and fewer attendees might do just as well as multiple short meetings that involve large numbers of people.

Predict Turnover

Inevitably, people leave a company. Many times, they move on for reasons which are entirely beyond the business owner’s control, so the goal here is not so much to reduce turnover, but to manage it. That’s the best way to minimize disruptions like increased workloads for the employees who remain, which means they spend less time on individual tasks, and the productivity downtime that occurs during employee training and orientation.

Managing turnover has some other benefits as well, such as reducing organizational voids and improving morale. That thought leads us to the third benefit of an efficiency study, which is. . .

Better Attitudes

Most everyone will say that they are happy if the boss asks the question. But if a surveyor asks, and especially if the responses are anonymous, accurate feedback is much more likely. Commonly, surveyors also ask questions like an employee’s willingness to recommend the organization to someone who is looking for a job.

Measuring employee helpfulness is an unexpected corollary. Simply asking such a question motivates employees to assist others with their workloads and have a better attitude about rendering such assistance. Moreover, such an inquiry either confirms or denies management beliefs about the real workhorses in an organization.

The bottom line is that management assessments of employee productivity tend to be either myopic or biased. So, an outside look often changes the way the organization does business, and everyone benefits.

Living with Diabetes? Life Insurance Rates Fall to All-Time Low - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

With November being National Diabetes month, we wanted to share some great news! Diabetes 365 conducted a survey with several Life Insurance carriers, and we have some good news to share.

According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly half of American adults have diabetes or prediabetes; more than 30 million adults and children have diabetes; and every 21 seconds, another individual is diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S.

Life insurance companies have taken notice of this, and have made positive changes over the years.  Medical advancements and modern technology are playing huge factors into the recent innovations that make life insurance more affordable for individuals with diabetes. We are lucky to be living in a day and age where medical technology is advancing at a rapid pace. With a little over 9% of the population, roughly 30 million Americans have a form of diabetes and these medical advancements open the door to many more companies who offer life insurance. The better medicine and treatment out there, to help with the long-term problems caused by diabetes, will help reduce your risk factor in the eyes of the insurance companies. Not only do these advancements offer the ability for life insurance but the life insurance companies have started to reward diabetics for making healthier life choices. Currently we have been experiencing life insurance rates the lowest they have ever been in the past 30years!

In addition to lower rates, companies are now offering more options to people with Diabetes.  People with Type 1 Diabetes used to be lucky, to find companies who would offer coverage.  Now, not only can they qualify for traditional policies, but they can also get No Medical Exam policies that are instantly approved!!!

Why is Life Insurance so Expensive for People with Diabetes?

Individuals with diabetes are considered a high-risk applicant primarily because their condition could ultimately turn into some serious health issues. Insurance companies see red flags when they come across an applicant with diabetes. They see the potential for kidney disease, heart attacks, stroke –all conditions that could be fatal and a huge investment risk for them. However recent studies have come out indicating that life insurance rates are more accessible for diabetics now than ever.

Diabetes 365 found that almost half of individuals living with diabetes are worried they will be unable to qualify for life insurance, while the other half deem life insurance as too expensive. We are trying to help debunk those outdated thoughts that are currently circulating through the diabetic community. According to Jon Hancock in the past 18 months more than 88% of individuals with diabetes type 2 who were looking for life insurance qualified for life insurance and received a standard or better rate!  This is a perfect example of how life insurance companies are understanding the true risks, of people who live with Diabetes

Policies That Benefit Diabetics

John Hancock life insurance offers a type of policy for diabetics that encourages them to make healthier life choices every day. Their Vitality rewards program helps promote a healthy lifestyle by setting up goals and rewards for healthy eating, exercising, and visiting the doctor. These rewards can go to the purchase of an Apple Watch that will allow them to help track and monitor their activity progress. Not to mention hundreds dollars of savings on healthier food purchases that will result in a 15% savings for their life insurance premiums! That same study showed that 75% of the individuals agreed that this type of life insurance was more appealing and would help motivate them to live a healthier lifestyle full of information that would help provide them additional support to manage their diabetes.

Diabetes Life Solutions also announced that over the past few years, there have even been life insurance companies who offer coverage to juvenile children with diabetes. In the past, if your child had Diabetes, you may have to wait until they were an adult, to find coverage.

Where should you go to find life insurance???

There are several companies out there that can now assist you with finding the coverage you need.  The key is to know how to find the best policy. Make sure you work with an independent agent, that represents several of the top insurance carriers and are familiar with which companies are more apt to underwrite those who have diabetes.

Unlike a traditional insurance agent, independent brokers work with dozens of highly rated companies across the nation. This is important as they can then impartially “shop” your policy to many different companies.  From there, they can present to you several options and solutions.

If you are going to make a success of your company, there will be times when you have to take risks. You may be faced with an exciting business venture that you can’t afford to walk away from. Or, you might need to update your marketing strategy in order to broaden your target audience. In these instances, it is important to be bold. However, there will also be times when you cannot afford to take risks. Instead, you will need to do everything in your power to play it safe.

Industry compliance

If your business is going to run smoothly, you will need to invest in compliance products and services. Arbour Group is an example of an organization that provides expert advice for compliance services in the life sciences industry. Their first-class service will ensure that your key business systems are functional and are in full compliance with applicable FDA and international regulations and guidelines. Not taking such precautions could jeopardize the future of your company.

Financial management

You will also need to be vigilant when dealing with your company finances. You cannot afford to make mistakes, as this could cost you both time and money. That is why you should seriously consider hiring an accountant. This will ensure that you never have to worry about the quality of your calculations. It could also provide you with the chance to receive helpful advice concerning your investment portfolio.

Quality control

Whenever you are in communication with your clients, or important business contacts, you will need to invest in quality control. In order to maintain a professional image, it is vital that you avoid spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and incorrect information. That is why you should download digital software that will proofread your external communications, or hire an in-house copywriter and proofreader. You should also entrust one member of your team with the responsibility of fact checking.

Health and safety

If you employ a team of people, you are responsible for their wellbeing. That is why you need to think carefully about your health and safety measures. Perhaps you could train a member of your staff to take on the role of health and safety coordinator. They could check in with your employees and evaluate their individual needs. They could also attend training courses that will keep them up to date with all of the latest industry requirements. Investing in your health and safety measures could help you to avoid disgruntled employees and expensive lawsuits. In the long run, it really is better to be safe than sorry.

Insurance

Another option is for you to offer insurance policies to your employees. This is a fantastic way for you to encourage people to work for your company and to make it clear that you really care about your workers. Not only this, but investing in a group plan insurance policy, could provide you with better access to doctors and hospitals. It could even help you to save money on your taxes!

A while ago there was a big hype around turmeric and the amazing benefits it offered. After all, it has been used medicinally for over 4,500 years. It appears naturally in most indian dishes and is a welcome spice to any exotic meal. But why exactly is it so powerful?

The Powerful Attributes Within Turmeric

Turmeric is derived from the Curcuma longa plant. This grows in India as well as other Southeast Asian countries. It is the dried root of the Curcuma longa plant that is ground into the yellow powder we all know so well.

There have been over 10,000 articles on the amazing benefits of turmeric and it has constantly shown that its benefits actually equal that of many pharmaceutical medication. In fact, in some cases it has been shown that turmeric can be more powerful than certain prescription drugs. Just remember that turmeric is much more powerful as a supplement as it is much more highly concentrated. Authority Reports will explain more.

Main Areas That Turmeric Usage Affects:

  • Skin Care
  • Depression
  • Inflammation
  • Diabetes

Skin Care

When you think about skin care you automatically think about things like Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Vitamin A.  Where turmeric steps in with regards to skin care, is the fact that its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties have shown to be highly effective in the treatment of conditions of the skin. You see, turmeric hastens the pace of wound healing as well as calms the pores which, in effect, decreases acne and acne scarring. It also is known for controlling psoriasis – an affliction even the likes of Kim Kardashian can’t escape from.

Depression

When you speak of depression people automatically think “Prozac”. Though, are you aware that turmeric really helps with depression. Studies have been conducted where people with major depressive disorders such as Bipolar Disorder were treated with turmeric and it actually proved to help significantly with their depression. This isn’t saying that you should ever replace your chronic medication with it but it should certainly help along the way.

Inflammation

Turmeric is well-known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It really has been known to control inflammation. Turmeric has, in fact, been to show that it is more effective than ibuprofen or aspirin when dealing with inflammation. Through this, turmeric is being seen as a possible treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. This also affects arthritis as turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties help with this.

Diabetes

Turmeric can also be relied upon for lowering blood sugar and going so far as to reverse insulin resistance. A study that was conducted discovered that the curcumin in turmeric is, in fact, 400 times more powerful that Metformin (a common diabetes drug) as it activates AMPK. This, in turn, improves insulin sensitivity which can work at reversing Type 2 Diabetes. Obviously a healthier diet and some exercise will help in conjunction with ingesting turmeric.

With all its amazing benefits it’s easy to see why turmeric is, in fact, the supplement of the future! Your health can only get better with it. Just remember, it will also add benefit when added to curry dishes and stews – so get experimental and try it out. Keep in mind that its concentrated form, found in supplements, will benefit you the most!

How to Plan the Perfect Pitch or Presentation - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$
0

Achieving consistent growth is the key to any successful enterprise. One of the very best ways to grow your business is to get out into the marketplace and pitch – either to potential customers or potential investors. No matter how confident you are or how sure you are of the enormous value of your particular product or service, taking a little time to plan out both what you say and how you say it will pay enormous dividends each and every time you make a pitch.

Respect your audience

Be sure to confirm in advance exactly how much time you have to deliver your pitch and exactly who is going to be part of your audience. Failing to do so is a common error, and one could quickly spell disaster. Delivering a perfect pitch that is filled with information that is mostly irrelevant to the people you are speaking to will do nothing to further your cause. If your pitch ends up running for twice as long as the timeslot you have been assigned, you risk some of those present having to leave before the end due to other commitments. This means they lose the chance to have any questions they might have answered. Even if all of your audience stays to the end of a pitch that overruns, they may be left with feelings of resentment as a result.

Turn your pitch into a story

The human brain is hard-wired for storytelling and knowing this can help turn an otherwise dry pitch into something far more entertaining and memorable. Stories are satisfying because they have a beginning, middle and an end and they engage the audience throughout. If you can incorporate some key storytelling techniques in your pitch, you stand a better chance of delivering a fascinating presentation that resonates with your audience long after you have left the building.

Leave them with high-quality handouts

Even the best pitch in the world can’t possibly provide all the information or answer all the questions that a potential customer might have. Being able to leave behind a range of high-quality promotional materials not only provides an opportunity for people to go through the material in more depth and at their own pace, but it also cements the image of your company as one that is both efficient and capable of providing a quality product or service. At Showcasecreative.com you can find a wide range of presentation folders and other materials that will ensure you leave a lasting impression.

Practice the tough questions

There will be times when your pitch goes perfectly to plan, but there will be others when one catastrophe hits you after another. Knowing your business inside out so that you can answer any question that is thrown at you is the key to maintaining your composure when times get tough. You also need to practice answering the most difficult, challenging questions you possibly can think of – the ones you hope and pray will never actually come up. Never let yourself be caught off-guard – prepare for every scenario.

What Can You Do with a Biomedical Engineering Degree? - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

There are few careers that are as rewarding, or as fundamental to our society, as those in the medical field. When we think of medical or healthcare related jobs, we tend to think of doctors, nurses, and surgeons, often forgetting that a great deal of the most important work to ensure public health goes on behind the scenes. The doctors and surgeons who decide how to treat their patients are doing so working with the information and equipment that has been developed by their peers, colleagues, and a number of research groups that they will never meet.

There are many of us who would relish the opportunity to be able to work in a healthcare related field, where we could be involved in making a real difference to other people’s lives, but either lack the requisite expertise or don’t think we have what it takes to work directly with patients on the proverbial frontlines.

For people like us, there are fields such as biomedical engineering, an area of study which looks at how we can take the principles of engineering and apply them to the realm of healthcare. The most common marriage of the two is in the design and manufacture of new equipment, for both diagnostic and treatment purposes.

In this article we take a look at just some of the most exciting jobs available to those with a degree in biomedical engineering. If any of these potential career paths appeal to you then you should look in to studying for an online master of engineering in biomedical engineering. An online MEBME degree will cost less than the equivalent campus course and can be studied part time to accommodate a job at the same time.

Bioinstrumentation

This is the most commonly pursued career in biomedical engineering and it is here that, arguably, the bulk of the most important work undertaken in the field is accomplished. Bioinstrumentation refers to the designing and developing of various tools and pieces of equipment in order to help doctors to more accurately and more efficiently diagnose and treat patients.

Biomaterials

Biomaterials are materials which have been specially designed to possess certain properties which make them desirable and suitable for use in the human body. Biomaterials must be able to be safely implanted in the body without triggering an autoimmune response and must be able to remain in place without affecting the surrounding area or raising the patients risk of cancer in the long term.

Biomechanics

Biomechanics is one of the fastest fields within the broader field of biomedical engineering. Essentially, biomechanics deals with the design and creation of products which help patients with their mobility. For some time now, various groups have been racing to produce exo-skeletons for both military and civilian use. These exo-skeletons are designed to supplement the strength of the wearer by assisting their movements with mechanical strength.

Cellular, Tissue, and Genetic Engineering

These three fields are all very closely related and deal with the microscopic machines that keep our bodies working. By studying the behavior of different types of cells in various circumstances we have been able to build a much clearer picture of how diseases progress and can be stopped.

Biomedical engineering is one of the fastest growing healthcare fields and therefore offers an excellent and stable long-term career path.

How to Do Link Building in 2018 - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$
0
0

Link building strategies must change with the times because search engines now penalize link building strategies it used to reward. However, links remain one of the biggest ranking factors. Here are a few tips on how to do link building in 2018. We’ll also explain why these strategies are your best moves for today and tomorrow compared to prior tactics you may still be using.

Social Media Outreach

Search engines now discriminate against link spam, the posting of links in link directories or pasting links in comment sections. The links search engines now reward are the links shared via social media. They place a premium on social media sharing of links because they are harder to fake and are seen as a vote of confidence in favour of your content. You can start this process by sharing links to your content via every social media account your business has. You should cultivate a social media following by regularly sharing valuable content to your audience and deliberately asking them to share the links. This is called social media outreach or SMO. You should also ask them to follow you on social media or subscribe to your channel so that they receive notifications about your new content and share it soon after it is posted.

Create Shareable, Visual Content

Visual content is uniquely shareable because it cannot be summarized in a Tweet or rich snippet by a search engine, and it is something that others cannot scrape and post on another website. This type of content includes slideshows, infographics, videos, comics and other visually rich content with minimal text. You make it shareable by adding social media sharing buttons and spreading it wide and far on social media. Remember to share links to this type of content via your newsletters so that your email marketing channel can be leveraged to improve your site’s SEO because people read the snippet in the newsletter before clicking on the link to the content.

Broken Link Building

Broken link building can take several forms. The most obvious is checking your own site for broken links and fixing them, ideally pointing people to the content that you want to receive more traffic. SEO experts like clickintelligence.co.uk can advise you on what crosslinks to place on each page to keep people on your site and maximize both internal traffic and sales. Another strategy is searching other sites for broken links, telling the website administrator, and asking for them to put a backlink to your site as payment.

Conclusion

If you want to boost your link production in 2018, you need to share content via social media since it generates backlinks that search engines love. Create shareable content to be spread via social media to leverage SMO. Seek high authority backlinks via guest blogging, business directories, media mentions and anywhere else you can reasonably place them. Fix links on your webpage to keep people on the site and identify broken links on other sites in return for a backlink.

4 Reasons You Should Invest in Pay Per Click Marketing - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

0

Pay per click marketing, or PPC for short, is one of the most widespread advertising methods online, and for a number of reasons. In short, PPC allows you to bid on certain keywords and have a custom ad appear near the top of the search results every time someone search for the keyword. But unlike regular banner ads, you only pay when clients actually click on your ad and visit your site. PPC has tons of advantages over other marketing methods that should not be overlooked. Here are some of the reasons you should consider making the switch to PPC.

You Only Pay for Results

PPC is one of the only advertising methods that allow you to pay for results only. With display advertising, you have to pay for impressions. Unless you’re advertising on a highly targeted outlet, you might have disappointing results. The same goes for YouTube videos.

But with PPC, not only you are laser-targeting someone who was looking exactly for your type of product but you know that there was a level of interest there. This makes PPC not only one of the most targeted marketing methods out there and the most highly converting one as well.

Instant Entry

Another thing that blows away many newcomers is the fact that you can have your ads up almost immediately with PPC. Many business owners find it hard to believe that they could have their website featured at the top of search rankings in less than an hour, but that’s exactly what you’re getting with PPC. You get almost the same benefits as all those other businesses that were competing for that oh-so-precious piece of prime online real estate, all for a small fee.

PPC can Accomplish a Variety of Business Goals

For many people, this is the main reason why they favour PPC over everything else. PPC can help you accomplish tons of things. Whether you’re trying to build awareness for your brand, generate leads or draw attention to a special sale, PPC can be adjusted accordingly. PPC can support virtually any part of your sales funnel and can be used either to build buzz or convert customers. Whatever type of traffic you’re looking for, you can get it with PPC.

Easily Monitored

PPC is also one of the best ways to experiment with your marketing material. You can test pages to see which ones are working better by distributing the traffic from PPC ads to different pages to see which one performs the best. You can also split test your campaigns to see which one garners the best response. Firms like Click Intelligence specialize in PPC marketing and can help you with everything from split testing of campaigns and keyword research.

Conclusion

As you can see, PPC advertising is one of the most powerful online marketing methods there is. It’s easy to implement, can be very affordable depending on your niche, and is without a doubt the quickest way to gain prime visibility on search engines.

Running a service business is a difficult task. There is always something that makes things more difficult. Fortunately, in the modern world there are a number of software options that can help you to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. Field service management software ensures that you run your business correctly and efficiently. Your service business can improve from the ground up if you choose the right software to help you do it.

Scheduling

Ensuring that your schedule is correct is a big part of running a successful service business. If you and your employees regularly miss or are late for appointments it will ruin your reputation before you know it. Scheduling software stops all of this from happening. With the ability to sync everyone in your company’s schedules it stops any problems that may arise from double booking. Field service management software gives you scheduling software included in its many features.

Mobile Connectivity

Ensuring that mobile devices are fully connected and interact with each other is an important part of running a service business. If your employees are all connected with each other then communication becomes a much simpler activity. For example if a customer calls asking how far away a technician is, if all mobile devices are connected to the same hub then the telephone operator can check exactly where the technician is and relay the information directly to the customer. This is a very important part of ensuring the business runs effectively and efficiently.

Automation

Field service management software gives your company the option to automate as many jobs as possible. If you can book in a return visit, sync it to everyone’s schedule, bill the customer and add it to an employee’s time slip all with the push of one button it makes running your business a much simpler proposition. Automation saves both time and more importantly allows your employees to carry out the actual service part of their job much more productively. If you can automate parts of your company then it makes sense to make field service management software part of your company.

Cutting Costs

While there is an initial outlay when it comes to making field service management software part of your team, it soon pays it back. This doesn’t mean laying people off either. It saves money on cancelled appointments. It saves money from accounting errors because everything is synced together. It saves money from sending more than one technician to the same job. Cutting costs doesn’t always mean laying off workers, it often means ensuring that your employees don’t waste time on menial tasks when they could be carrying out tasks that will make the company more money. It means making sure your employees are as productive as possible without working them so hard they burn out. If you want to cut costs and ensure your business runs smoother than ever then field service management software will ensure that you do it correctly.

If you want your business to be a success then field service management software is the best way to organise it to achieve its absolute maximum potential.

Managing Wastewater - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Wastewater is water that has been polluted by human processes and can contain physical, chemical, and biological pollutants. It’s essential that wastewater–like any other kind of waste–be disposed of in a hygienic manner. But wastewater can be treated and even reused, thanks to certain processes and technology.

In manufacturing, it’s important that wastewater be properly managed–especially because there’s usually a lot of it. Industries that generate a lot of wastewater are subject to strict regulations by the Environmental Protection Agency. If your company is growing to the level where it will start generating a lot of waste, it’s time to invest in treatment options.

There are many ways to treat wastewater, and lots of manufacturers outsource this job to companies specifically dedicated to wastewater treatment, or the manufacturers will buy the necessary equipment to treat their own water.

Clarifiers

There are several methods of treating wastewater. One is by using clarifiers. Clarifiers remove waste from the sedimentation tanks into which the polluted water is deposited. In these tanks, some of the waste will float (scum), while the rest of it sinks to the bottom (sludge). One style of clarifier is the slant plate clarifier. The inclined plate creates more floor space for the sludge to settle in. It’s design means it requires fewer mechanical features. Another type of clarifier is a low profile clarifier (LPC). The LPC also uses inclined plates, but it also gets wider as the flow rate increases, which means that the height of the tank stays the same–this is great for places with low ceilings.

Filter presses

Filter presses are the most popular method for treating wastewater. In filtration, the sludge may simply drain through sand meds, but sometimes filtration also uses vacuums or high pressure to move out the sludge. Filter presses use plates that press against each other to create filtration chambers in which the sludge accumulates. The filtrate is collected in the back of the support and internal ducts carry it away.

You can also use filter presses to recycle the water you use. This is especially crucial in processes such as hydraulic fracturing (aka “fracking”), which uses water to create oil and gas wells. This process uses tons of water and consequently creates a byproduct called produced water, which is environmentally problematic. This process is therefore under strict regulations by the EPA. However, using advanced treatment technology, produced water can be treated and partially recycled, allowing it to be used again in the fracking process.

Other methods

These are just two of the methods by which wastewater can be treated. Other methods include oxidation, polishing, and phase separation. There has even been experimentation using rotating perforated tubes to filter the wastewater. Be sure to investigate all your options. There are resources online, but you may also choose to consult an expert in the field to decide what it right for your facility, waste production, and budget.

The Technology of Comfort - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

When we think of or hear of “technology,” it usually comes with images of or references to electronics devices, aerospace engineering, robots, or medical procedures. But technology plays a function in some of the most seemingly mundane functions and items around the house or office. The first definition of “technology” by Merriam-Webster is, after all, “the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area.” Technology ranges from how a chair is put together to the use of tiny cameras in surgical processes. It’s even used to make us more cozy and comfy! If you’re looking to upgrade your furniture or bedding, keep in mind that the right fit for your body and preferences is out there.

Cozy

Have you ever considered that even our blankets and pillows incorporate sophisticated technology? Of course, there are heated blankets, which obviously require technology to operate. But more “basic” blankets and duvets also use technology to keep you warm–or cool, if that’s your preference. High-quality down comforters are designed with specific types of down and amounts of down, depending on the insulating effect desired. The developers of these blankets also use specific fabric types, such as silks or cottons, to produce whatever effect a consumer may need. Even your sheets use some basic technology–thread count is a big marker of sheet quality, and think about the weaving and experimenting that goes into developing sleeker and sleeker bedsheets!

Pillows also use technology. Depending on your weight and sleeping habits, you may prefer a pillow made of rubber, wool, or down. Some of the most technologically-advanced pillows monitor your snoring and sleep habits. If you snore too much, the pillow will vibrate, encouraging you to change positions. Some even have speakers in them that play music or audiobooks.

Comfy

It’s pretty obvious that major furniture pieces, such as recliners, use some basic technology, such as adjustment equipment, positioning equipment, and even the type of spring support and stuffing used to create comfort. But other comfort accoutrements also are developed using high-end technology.

Many people prefer memory foam mattresses, pillows, and even shoes! Memory foam is a synthetic material that is viscoelastic, meaning it reluctantly moves with pressure and then also retains its shape. This technology allows memory foam mattresses to mold to your body shape and support your frame more effectively than normal mattresses do. Of course, some people prefer a firm spring mattress. Your preferences and bodily needs will determine the right mattress for you, and, fortunately, technological advances have ensured that the right mattress is probably out there.

The comfort of your office–whether at home or out at a different workplace–is also paramount. And not just comfort, either; good support in your office chair and appropriate ergonomic designs of your desk and other equipment will prevent injury, pain, and even spinal decline. The technology used in office furniture can be pretty advanced. For instance, cables, connectors, and spring material combine to provide adjustable lumbar support in office chairs. These same applications also allow chairs and armrests to be lowered and raised, depending on your needs or the needs of your employees.

The Benefits of Using Granite as Your Kitchen Worktop - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

The kitchen area has always been considered the centre and heart of any home. Because of this, many homeowners invest a lot of time and money into making sure that it not only looks aesthetically pleasing and presentable but also remains functional and withstands the test of time. Within this space, one particular element that stands out is the kitchen worktop. With different natural stones available to be used as its surface, such as marble and quartz, why are many people opting for granite as a kitchen worktop material, like the granite worktops London suppliers offer? Here are a few advantages and benefits that granite offers.

Natural beauty and versatile design

Engineered stones like quartz may boast of strength and toughness that remain unmatched by its more organic and natural counterparts, but this is also its biggest downside. Since this manmade material is generated via the mixture of both resin and colouring, it can oftentimes fail to create the look of real stone. The consistently uniform patterns that it has can potentially put off homeowners who are looking for the genuine look and feel of stone.

No such problems exist with granite. Not only does this natural stone exude a remarkable beauty, it can also be supplied in a wide variety of sizes as well as shapes. This makes it easier to match your kitchen worktops to the theme of your choice. Design options will certainly be in ample supply, and it should add your own personal style and touch as well as value to your home.

Ease of maintenance

Because of the relatively smooth kind of finish that usually accompanies granite, it provides ease in keeping it both clean and well maintained. Any spills or stains become a non-issue and won’t be time-consuming to clear up with simple household items. Some companies even provide a near impregnable type of sealer that adds an extra layer of both stain and scratch protection, keeping the worktop looking as good as when it was first installed in your home.

Unparalleled durability

The secret to the longevity of a worktop lies in its durability. Out of all of the natural stone materials utilised for worktop surfaces, none are as strong or as dense as granite. It can be extremely resistant to different kinds of potential damage like scratches or heat, and also boasts beauty to match.

At the end of the day, choosing the right material as the surface of your kitchen worktop all boils down to personal preference. Marble and quartz are certainly viable options, with the latter being particularly strong. However, for those who desire balance in design and durability, and being all-natural, you can’t go wrong with granite. It may have its own fair share of flaws, but the advantages it yields make up for all of these and should not be ignored by any homeowner looking to add value to their home.

Demand Determines How You Stock: Are You Using the Best Supply Chain Software for Your Business? - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

$

With the wealth of information available to businesses and consumers with just a few taps of the screen, things change very quickly. So quickly, in fact, that your company could be suffering unnecessary losses.

One kind of supply chain management software (SCM) you can invest in is demand planning software. Demand planning software keeps businesses abreast of shifts in the market, and communicates these changes to the supply chain. But this has larger implications across many processes. Here’s what else the best demand planning software can do.

Analyzing Demand

It can be difficult for companies to know what to do with the wealth of data available now. Demand planning software can now make forecasts much more accurate, because it can better explain why demand is where it’s at. This means decreased latency in meeting or adjusting to these demands.

Adjusting Inventory

Nothing beats off a customer faster than the words “out of stock”, or seeing that an order will be fulfilled at a date later than usual. With the proper demand planning software, businesses can make all of the sales available to them by having the appropriate amount of inventory in stock – the clearest benefit to improved accuracy in forecasting.

Profits

This is really why businesses should spend on software. The entire focus with demand planning software is profit, so you’re essentially spending on future profitability. With valuable data generating forecasts you can rely on, you’ll make wiser inventory investments and be able to supply orders on time.

Employee Retention and Satisfaction Across Relationships

Streamlining processes and increasing efficiency across all departments and with other businesses encourages a team-oriented environment. Not to mention, management that makes good decisions which provide company-wide positive impacts is excellent for morale and retention. Fewer mistakes, miscommunications, and misunderstandings opens the door for real collaboration, as well as continued education, all of which boost the growth of your business.

Make Changes Fast

An abrupt change of plans can be costly for your business. Superior demand planning means that you are able to outperform the competition at a moment’s notice. Overall, it gives management the power to make informed real-time decisions, so businesses never have to sit on their hands as productivity and sales begin to slip. Instead, you have a clear idea of what’s about to occur with a product, and you can re-strategize accordingly.

Integration: Factors to Consider

When switching your company over to supply chain software, one may be tempted to go as big or small in price as they think is necessary for the size of their business. The truth is, cost is a consideration that should be knocked further down the list.

Features you should focus on include various aspects of forecasting, and whether or not seasonality is relevant to your company. From, there, it’s imperative that your software be scalable, so you can make future upgrades and changes.

Many businesses still misunderstand what demand planning software can really do for them. Fortunately, that’s what this kind of software is all about: making the unknown known. Fast, accurate forecasts mean you’re never left in a lurch with inventory, trends, and demographics.
